This is the 25th edition of the SITEM trade show. Its history dates back to 1988, when Jean-François Grünfeld, an actor of cultural tourism, author, curator, cultural producer and a former collaborator of Jack Lang at the Ministry of Culture, created MuseumExperts. This structure includes two French trade shows: SITEM and MUSEVA, the only international event organized on the privatization of cultural venues.
Since its inception more than 20 years ago, SITEM has become the only event of its kind where public and private professionals from the cultural, financial and tourism sectors can come together, share their expertise and work together. As showcased by the exhibitors, the trade show has presented and analysed all the great technological evolutions of museums over the years. The SITEM fair brings together around 160 exhibitors every year offering equipment or tools for valuation and innovation to museums, places of culture and tourism. The event also hosts conferences, workshops, a start-up competition (since 2017) and the festival “Musées (em)portables” (since 2012).
In January 2021 SITEM joined Beaux Arts & Company, following the acquisition of MuseumExperts by ArtNova, the investment fund of Frédéric Jousset dedicated to cultural and creative industries and heritage. Frédéric Jousset, President of Beaux Arts & Company, stated : "I believe that SITEM and MUSEVA are meetings essential for all museum professionals and are part of the tools for relaunching the sector”. Jean-François Grünfeld, the founder of MuseumExperts, believes that “the position of Beaux Arts & Co in the cultural sector, as well as its powerful communication and action skills, will enable the SITEM to welcome more exhibitors, from different categories, and to increase its international projection. In this new situation, it is reasonable to consider that SITEM could become, in three years, the most powerful show in its field in Europe ”.
