Running list for 2020 worldwide art events - Winter

We are delighted to step into the roaring ‘20s and finally leave behind the $120,000 banana in 2019. Ahead of us are 12 months to travel around the world to discover all types of fairs, art and dealers: from blue chip galleries to non profits, from established artists to emergent ones… 2020 promises to give us some exciting shows! To help you keep track, we’ve compiled a running list for each quarter, enjoy!

January

ESTE ARTE, January 4–8

Punta del Este Convention and Exhibition Center, Punta del Este Este Arte presents international art galleries, which showcase both established and newly emerging artists. Moreover, the fair offers a parallel programme including seminars, debates hosted by different artists, shows featuring sound art and scheduled guided visits.

Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary, January 9–12

Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Pavilion, 825 South Dixie Highway, Palm Beach The fair is hosting its fourth edition for Blue Chip galleries and top international dealers coming with a selection of Post-War works from Japan, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Canada, The Netherlands, Portugal and Venezuela.

Outsider Art Fair, January 16–20

Metropolitan Pavilion, 125 West 18th Street, New York The Outsider Art Fair, an international exhibition which also takes place in in Paris, features emerging artists working with a variety of mediums.

S.E.A. Focus, January 16–19

Gillman Barracks, Singapore S.E.A. Focus is a showcase of contemporary art from Southeast Asia. It aims to bring together a curated selection of some of the finest artists and galleries from across the region to foster a deeper appreciation of contemporary art and artists in Southeast Asia.

Taipei Dangdai Art Fair, January 17–19

Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center, Taipei For its second edition, the event brings together a selection of the world’s leading galleries, artists and curators from a wide range of disciplines, including archaeology, art history and technology. The different sections of the fair divided between “Galleries”, “Young Galleries”, “Solos” and “Salon”, give visitors an opportunity to discover presentations from established galleries, alongside work by emerging artists at accessible price points.

Maison & Objet, January 17-22

Parc des Expositions Paris Nord Villepinte MAISON&OBJET takes place twice a year to present new design trends to a global community of decoration, design and lifestyle professionals.

London Art Fair, January 22–26

Business Design Centre, 52 Upper Street, London The London Art fair will bring for its 32st edition, 100 galleries to showcase museum-quality contemporary artworks from the early 20th century to today's leading artists in the London Business Design Centre. There will also be two specially curated sections beyond the main fair focusing on new works, less established galleries and contemporary photography.

Arte Fiera Bologna, January 24–26

Bologna Exhibition Center Pavilion 15, 18, Bologna Established in 1974, Arte Fiera is the biggest and the oldest art fair in Italy. The fair welcomes national and international galleries each year, which are displaying modern and contemporary artists. A separate section of Arte Fiera is held annually in Shanghai, China.

Decorative Fair, January 21-26

7 Church Street, London NW8 8EE The exhibitors present a wide range of decorative antiques and twentieth century designs in a room-set fashion.

The Winter Show, January 24–February 2

Park Avenue Armory, 643 Park Avenue, New York Held at the historic Park Avenue Armory in New York City, the fair highlights a dynamic mix of works dating from ancient times through the present day and maintains the highest standards of quality in the art market. Each object at the fair is vetted for authenticity, date and condition by a committee of 150 experts from the United States and Europe.

BRAFA Art Fair, January 26–February 2

*Avenue du Port 86 C Box 2 A, Brussels * Initially a Belgian antique dealers gathering, the Brafa will host 133 exhibitors coming from all over the world, covering twenty art disciplines ranging from archaeology to contemporary art. Thanks to one of the strictest vetting processes in the sector, the art pieces presented are of the highest quality in old, modern and contemporary art.

Artgenève, January 30–February 2

Palexpo Convention Center, Geneva For its 9th edition, Art Geneva has been establishing itself as a high end and internationally renowned contemporary and modern art fair in the Geneva Lake region. The event welcomes international galleries and devotes different spaces dedicated to curators and public and private collections, promoting a dynamic dialogue between institutions and galleries.

Art Rotterdam, February 6–9

Van Nelle Factory, Rotterdam Art Rotterdam is one of the most energetic art fairs for contemporary art in Europe. A visit to the fair will keep you up to date with the latest developments in contemporary art and is the place to discover fresh talent. National and international galleries will present their most inspiring artists. Within Art Rotterdam the illy prize will be awarded. Simultaneously with Art Rotterdam the international fair for autonomous design, Object Rotterdam, will take place nearby in Las Palmas.

Affordable Art Fair, Milan, February 7–9

Superstudio Più, Milan Each year in Milan about a hundred local, national and international galleries reunite with affordable pieces of contemporary art, ranging in price from €100 – €7,500.

Frieze Los Angeles, February 14–16

Paramount Pictures Studios, Los Angeles Frieze is a media and events company that comprises three publications and four international art fairs in London, LA and New York. For its second edition in LA, the Frieze art show will bring around 60 of the most significant and forward-thinking galleries from all around the world in the iconic Paramount Pictures Studios. As a key meeting point for the art world, Frieze Los Angeles takes place along with a series of art events in LA, bringing together international collectors, curators and artists.

Cape Town Art Fair, February 14–16

4th Floor, Brewster Building 77 Hout Street Cape Town City Centre South Africa Investec Cape Town Art Fair showcases a diversity of work that represents the forefront of contemporary art from Africa to the world.

Art Fair Philippines, February 21–23

The Link Ayala Center, Makati Founded in 2013, Art Fair Philippines mirrors the vibrant local art scene and continues to generate support for Filipino art practitioners. Set in an alternative urban venue, Art Fair Philippines makes art accessible to enthusiasts and to those who want to discover one of Southeast Asia’s most stimulating art landscapes.

1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, February 22–23

La Mamounia, Marrakech 1-54 has carefully selected 20 galleries from 10 countries (Belgium, Ivory Coast, Egypt, France, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Senegal, South Africa and the United Kingdom) to show about 65 artists’ works, both emerging and established, working in a wide variety of mediums and from a range of geographical locations comprising 20 African countries.

ARCOmadrid, February 26–March 1

IFEMA Convention Center, Madrid ARCOmadrid 2020 is welcoming its 4th edition in Madrid, 200 national and international galleries to showcase contemporary art, featuring the programme of different cultural spaces in the city.

ADAA The Art Show, February 27–March 1

The Park Avenue Armory, New York Organised annually by the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA), The Art Show offers intimately scaled and thoughtfully curated presentations of the highest quality—fostering active conversations with gallerists, new relationships and close looks at works by artists from a variety of genres, practices, and national and international origins.

The Armory Show, March 5–8

69th Regiment Armory, New York, United States Since 1994,The Armory Art Show, composed of Pier 94 - Contemporary, exhibiting works by living artists, and Pier 92 - Modern, dedicated to masterworks of the 20th century, brings together established galleries and younger one; Armory Presents, part of Pier 94, is composed of single and dual artist presentations by galleries fewer than ten years old. Additionally, Armory Focus, belonging as well to Pier 94, brings together galleries, artists and curators who present unique geographic and cultural perspectives.

Independent New York, March 6–8

6 Saint Johns Lane, New York, NY 10013 The Independent art fair, which is held annually in New York and previously staged presentations in Brussels, has revealed the 63 galleries that will show works in its 2020 edition at Spring Studios in Tribeca during Armory Week. The show emerged from the desire to create a curated forum for galleries that are outside of the traditional narratives.

SCOPE, March 5–8

452 Baltic St. Brooklyn, NY 11217 SCOPE Art Show is a contemporary art fair held annually in New York City since 2004 but also in Miami and Basel. The shows are focused on young galleries and emerging art, each including between 60 and 100 exhibitors.

TEFAF Maastricht, March 7–15

MECC Maastricht Forum Maastricht The Netherlands Established in 1988, TEFAF is widely regarded as a leading show to display fine art, antiques, and design covering 7,000 years of art history.

SATELLITE Art Show SXSW, March 13–17

Austin,Texas SATELLITE ART SHOW presents interactive projects by young dealers, artist-run spaces and non-profit organisations. By fostering a range of programming, SATELLITE is able to offer patrons and collectors a unique experience where art is at the forefront of creative expression, activism and curiosity.

Art Central Hong Kong, March 17–22

Lung Wo Road Central, Hong Kong Art Central, a cornerstone event of the Hong Kong Art Week, showcases the next generation of talent alongside some of the most established galleries from across Asia and around the world. For its sixth edition, Art Central will present a selection of museum quality artworks from more established names as well as cutting-edge works by emerging artists leveraging different mediums.

Art Basel Hong Kong, March 19–21

Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Hong Kong The fair features premier galleries from Asia and beyond. Underlining Art Basel's commitment to the region, half of the participating galleries once again have exhibition spaces in Asia and Asia-Pacific. The show provides an in-depth overview of the region’s diversity through both historical material and cutting-edge works by established and emerging artists.

MIA Photo Fair, March 19–22

Porta Nuova Varesine Piazza Lina Bo Bardi, Milan MIA Photo Fair hosts about 85 national and international galleries who dedicate their offer to photography. The event provides a rich cultural programme, with events and conferences dedicated to the world of art and photography, which aims to support conscious collectors with insights and visitors in the Italian and international art scene.

Affordable Art Fair Brussels, March 20–22

Tour & Taxis 88 Avenue du Port 1000 Bruxelles Belgium As the name suggests, the AAF brings international galleries showing contemporary art pieces covering different techniques for prices below €10k.

Art Dubai, March 25–28

Madinat Jumeirah, Dubai Over the past 13 years, Art Dubai has been committed to cultivating a culture of discovery, offering provocative new global perspectives and broadening conversations about art beyond traditional western-led geographical scopes and narratives. Featuring four gallery sections (Contemporary, Modern, Bawwaba and Residents), the fair drives meaningful engagement with the rich cultural heritage and contemporary art practices of the region and extending to territories across Southeast Asia, the African continent, Latin America and Australasia.

Affordable Art Fair New York, March 26–29

NYC, United States Held twice a year, the Affordable Art Fair exhibits affordable, accessible and beautiful art in NYC.

Drawing Now Paris, March 26–29

4 rue Eugène Spuller,75003 Paris First contemporary art fair in Europe which is dedicating its selection to drawing. The fair assures a high level of quality since an independent committee of art professionals selects each year, since 2007, about 70 international galleries for the -emerging and established- artists they represent.

Eurantica Brussels, March 24 - 29

Place de Belgique, 1 - 1020 Bruxelles Eurantica is the place to be for collectors of Old Masters paintings, modern art, jewellery or vintage design. For its 39th edition of Fine Art Fair Eurantica will invite collectors, art-lovers, decorators and professionals together in a sophisticated ambience, where young Belgian and International art dealers and gallery holders will expose their selection.
