Balade is a 7-week art festival in Berlin-Charlottenburg, a district that is now experiencing a cultural renaissance. Through an exhibition circuit conceived as a walk through the neighbourhood, curators Liberty Adrien and Carina Bukuts will awaken this iconic district. The 4-km walk links 9 venues in world-famous locations such as the Orangery of the baroque Charlottenburg Palace, the iconic Delphi Filmpalast cinema or the Hotel Savoy, a grand hotel from the 1920s. The curators have invited international artists who live and work in Berlin to create works in these extraordinary and emblematic places.
The selection of artists for Balade underlines Berlin’s importance as a production site for contemporary art with an international reputation - 80% of the invited artists have exhibited at the Venice Biennale! The list of galleries representing the artists invited to this first edition of Balade is also impressive: starting with the best local players like Contemporary Fine Arts and Galerie Buchholz, enhanced by the internationally renowned Marian Goodman Gallery (NY, Paris, London), Regen Projects (LA) and Galerie Chantal Crousel (Paris) among others. The event receives further support from the Ministry of State for Culture and the Media, the Berlin Senate, Leinemann Foundation, and Hans and Charlotte Krull Foundation.
Convelio has been appointed as the official shipping partner for Balade’s first edition which will open to the public on the 8th of July and will last for 7 weeks until August 22. Convelio is proud to be supporting the organizers by making art travel internationally to the festival’s exhibitions.
