Hi, everybody! My name is Alberto, I'm Italian and I'm 22 years old. I have a science background having completed a three-year bachelor's degree at the Politecnico di Torino in Management Engineering. Afterwards, I came to the world of data science but via a business route, completing a Master Degree in Management at Toulouse Business School with a specialization in Big Data. Throughout my studies, I had the opportunity to live in different countries and discover many cultures (I spent my Erasmus in Porto, TBS Campus studies in Barcelona & Casablanca)!
I’m a Data Analyst at Convelio. The goal of my role is to support Convelio in making data-driven decisions. My daily tasks consist of gathering and structuring data that we have for each department, evaluating its quality, and linking it to business needs and KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
I had the opportunity to study art history in high school. Also, during my travels, I always visited artworks, studying them and familiarising myself with the styles or periods to which the artworks came from. Despite this, I never asked myself what was behind the transport of a work of art. However, that has not been an issue: thanks to the different training at Convelio I am now able to know in detail all the various steps of art shipping.
Starting remotely was something unique and of course a bit strange at the same time. It's not common to start a job without being in the company, physically. I was a bit worried before I started, but after a couple days I had already gotten to know both the people I work with directly and those in other departments. Every person I came into contact with went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. From the very beginning, each department gave me in-depth training on their main activities, so after a very short time I was able to have a global vision of the company without physically getting into it.
I’ve definitely learnt about the fine art market trends and the dynamic industry of art logistics! This internship at Convelio has been a great opportunity for me, and I have been able to accomplish everything I wanted to experience: working in a multicultural environment, in the Data field, and in a practical business context.
You have to be very willing to get involved, be flexible and dynamic. This means you have to be able to evolve quickly so as to grow with the company. One of the reasons why I wanted my first experience as a data analyst to be in a startup, like Convelio, was for the responsibility. Despite not having accumulated too much prior experience, I still wanted to contribute and play a key role in the team. The hope was that I would be able to see the impact of my work immediately. Now that I’m here, I can say that it is the case indeed!
The continuous and rapid learning, feeling part of a young and international group. and the possibility to bring and implement new ideas useful for the growth of the company.
